About a month ago the sunroof part of my open sky packed up, two weeks later Listers Audi of Stratford were able to look at the car. After inspection I was told that parts were on order from Germany and would be fitted in about two weeks time.
In the mean time my better half and I had a child free weekend at the Goodwood festival of speed, but unfortunately on night in Chichester, a dickless cretin lobbed a bottle at my A2 shattering the larger part of the sunroof.
Next morning I phoned Listers to see how much the replacement glass would be, the answer was "it’s not available on it's own but don't worry we have just received a complete new roof for the warranty work on your car".
Naively, I thought this was the end of the matter until the following morning when Listers informed me that as part of their warrantee procedure they had to return all replaced items back to Audi for examination and as my sunroof was in a 1000 pieces, I would have to claim for the whole new roof on my insurance or foot the bill my self - a cool £1400, (again as the single piece of glass was not available on it's own).
After taking legal advice from the RAC, I phoned Beechwood Audi (the original suppliers of the car), and low and behold they gave me the part No of the individual piece and also the good news that there were 5 available in the country with next day delivery, (£348 + vat ouch).
Armed with this information I phoned Listers and asked them to look for the said part No and surprise surprise "oh I must apologise I did not think that that part was available on its own was the answer", -as the RAC legal boff had suggested, Audi were being very fortuitive !!!
The car was away for a week as apparently the only place experienced to do the work is down in Hereford. They drove the car back with no compensation for the fuel used and I spent an hour vacuuming out slithers of glass and fitting the two bits of trim either side of the front windscreen that were loose - all in all crap crap crap.
Although I love the A2 for its looks, economy, individuality and quality, I will be selling it just before the warrantee is up because I'm b****red if I'm going to pay £1400 plus labour for a new roof if the sunroof mechanism decides to pack up again.
Anyone else experienced problems with their opensky?
