OpenSky and Roof Bars tip

Given the number of broken OpenSky sunroofs and the hideous cost of repair I thought I'd post what I do when I fit the roof bars to avoid any accidental attempt to open the roof when the roof bars are fitted.

Essentially, I disconnect the sunroof switch so that there's no way it can be opened in error and therefore damaging the roof mechanism. It's a 2 minute job and needs no tools other than the ignition key. The pictures below show the procedure:

1. Remove the light cover by inserting the key in the front gap and levering it out.
2. Use the key to undo the two retaining clips on the roof panel. Put the key in front of the clip and lever it towards you at both sides until the panel drops down.
3. Locate the connector. It's the one in the centre but closest to the rear. (Holding the wire in pic.3)
4. Remove the connector, it simply pulls out with no retaining clip.
5. Refit the panels in reverse order.

I hope that helps and saves someone an expensive accident.
