Alright Paul thanks for the advice much appreciated iv only had the car a month and its MOT runs out in Nov so im going to put it in next month and see how it goes and hopefully if theres nothing major il then concentrate more on things like my sunroof iv only been looking to see if it was something simple. Thanks again.Ant.sorry, to answer you question, the OSS motor is held in place with 3 torx bolts, can be removed through the switch panel hole. They are A2 specific so fairly rare, but I do have a spare one it you wanted to try it

didnt know that m8 thanks for the heads up ?Don't forget the latest MOT rules mean that if you take it early and it fails then it's recorded as such and officially not road legal.
Failure is instant so no more days of grace until the old test runs out, unless it passes, then the new test certificate runs from the date the current one expires
Cheers Spike

Sooner or later your gonna be up the road to St Anne’s on this job Tony but your right after your mot is done.is it a straight foreward job to replace and is it a part easily come by

when did you say you got yours Mark?Sooner or later your gonna be up the road to St Anne’s on this job Tony but your right after your mot is done.
thanks ian il give it a go tomorrow ?Edit.... the motor will need calibrating if it has been disconnected. To do this press the roof close button (forwards) for ten seconds. If it still does nothing then read on.
If the motor makes no noise at all then it must be knackered I suppose, but that is very rare. Best thing to do is to see if the roof opens manually, usually there is an Allen key for doing this above the interior light panel, but as you have a panel from a non OSS car then it won’t be there. You will need the right size Allen key (5mm from memory) and if the roof does open then you are very lucky and maybe just need a working motor. But I suspect the roof is jammed and the whole thing will need replacing.
Give it a try and let us know.
Ian
Sorry T it was the end of Junewhen did you say you got yours Mark?
Alright Paul im off to Cleveleys this morning to pick something up do you stil have the switch to test the OSS.?I suspect that as said above the OSS is now BSS (broken sky system)
I also have a lead which connects to the OSS motor with a switch on it, I use this to run the motor when I'm rebuilding OSS's on the bench so to speak
Happy to connect this up to your car to establish if the OSS is BSS
