Options for phone mounting

Have decided to install a Bluetooth, (where and why did they get that name?)
It all seems to work on the bench, but the question is what is the best place to mount the iPhone and external mic. Looking for suggestions and pics if possible.

What type of bluetooth adapter are you using? Are you plugging the phone in via a cable or just using the bluetooth? How do you answer and cancel calls? Dial numbers? All of these will make the positioning of the phone important. Onmy adapter ( Android phone ) I use two buttons on the radio to answer / end calls, but need to physically use the phone to dial numbers. My phone is not connected by a cable and sits under the ashtray in front of the gearstick. I also do not play music from my phone. My mic runs through the dash and out the side of it near the lights switch. It then runs up the A pillar trim over the top and back down the windscreen and end up about 1" lower than the sun visor when in the down position. I have also fitted a three way power socket with USB ports behind the steering wheel. I run a USB lead from there to charge the phone.

OK so the box looks very similar to my one. I have this fitted in the dash cubby on the left side and a piece of foam just to hold it there as it is not fixed in. All the cables run out through the back of the cubby. My phone could sit next to it in the cubby but chose to place it in front of the gear stick instead. As stated previously the mic cable runs up the inside of the center console under the steering wheel out by the end of the dash near light switch and up and over the A pillar trim. I do not have your unit but am assuming it is not voice controlled and you still need to press buttons on the radio to use the phone. If you want to use the aux cable that can be run down to the phone in front of the gear stick. Not knocking any bluetooth adapter as they make the excellent OEM head units much more useable. You will have to check the units instructions as to how the phone functions are accessed or used. Incoming call switches the car speakers to the phone automatically and pauses media but only mutes the radio.

Alternatively you could use a sucker type holder and have the phone on the windscreen or front quarter light, or the clip type mounts that fit into the air vent or a magnetic one on the top of the dash.
