OSS 'Open Sky System' Motor mount

Paul, I don't seem to be on your list even though I said I would be interested in buying a few in post #36.

Ian

Apologies Ian I meant to pm you with the quantity and totally forgot. I’ve added you to the list for one but this can be increased
Would be able to confirm my thoughts that this mount can be changed without removing the oss from the A2. I think with the head lining out of the car it should all be accessible but this is from memory when changing out an oss and looking at the front panel I have in the workshop, so I would very much like an expert opinion

Thank you. We have added rivets to existing motor mounts even without removing the head lining, so i reckon it may even be possible (if your hands are small) without removing any trim, just the interior light section. Definitely possible with the head lining down and with the OSS in situ.

I may be interested in as many as ten motor mounts.

Edit, Here is a picture of one we worked on, you can see there is lots of room with the headlining down:

Thanks Ian,
will defo need the head lining out as to get the tubes out of the old mount would be impossible with ot unscrewing the tube connection to the OSS frame

I'll work on 6 for planning purposes and we can adjust as it moves forward

Hello Paul,
Thank you for adding me to the list.
Respect for all the effort you take.
For that reason alone, I already apply to support these types of projects. Even if I wouldn't need the part.
I am quite at the bottom of the list. My OSS still works fine. So I wait calmly for my turn.
I assume that you will have to invest the necessary for this, if at any time you think, "I want to receive a (partial) prepayment", do not hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,
Louis

Ho Louis,
Thank you very much for the kind offer, but no need
I am working my way through the first batch and hope to have these ready for the end of the week

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,
I may have missed this, but as an early adopter, do you have any update on acceptable payment time? For once I am actually cash-positive this month or two - so I am happy to pay up front the £140 quid to get this out of the way, even though I don't need the part instantly (and would rather perhaps visit your workshop to get it fitted when Covid things calm down a bit in which case we can talk different numbers for additional assistance at the time).

I’ve sent you a pm

Hoping to have the first batch of 10 ready for the 23rd Feb. Machining is done just awaiting screws as the supplier sent 4mm when I ordered 5mm

Cheers. Paul

They are getting near

I’ve been busy all week evenings and the last couple of weekends machining lots of aluminium plate into these beauties

Screws are due to arrive tomorrow so the first 10 will be ready mid week

Paul,

Please add me to the list for a motor mount.

Fabulous engineering and dedication, brilliant project.

I expect I’ll be waiting for a later batch but no problem with that; like others I’m not sure how I missed this, I blame myself for reading a2oc on Tapatalk.

All the best,
Matt

Hi Ian
Yes I agree the list is less than ideal as I missed the odd person in the flood of demands
I will have enough stock for everyone in about a month
I suspect that the order of the list will not necessarily be the order that mounts are sent out in
Do you have any oss work on at the moment ? I can send you one or two mounts now if you have and are able to provide some pictures and a few words about fitting the motor mount
It is mainly remove the head lining and then a few screws to remove the motor and the conduits from the oss rails
I’ve mocked this up on an oss front panel so I know it’s doable but not on the actual car as it too bloody cold to do so plus I have motor mounts to mill
I’ve added you in as 17a

Paul,

As per the PM, we would gladly help with some pictures/instructions on the fitting.

Thank you

Ian

Hi.

Very late to this but can I please also be added to the list?

I’ve yet to actually meet my new Cobalt steed but it does come with an OSS which seems to be working pretty well currently.

I’d rather do the preventative work though.

Cheers
