Part Identity

Can anyone help in identifying the part arrowed in the attached pic & advise if it is available to buy individually or if it is part of the main valve it is connected to (EGR??) It is located to the rear centre of the engine bay near the insulated air intake. From the looks of it (difficult access restricted view) it looks like it should be held on with 3 lugs located in tapering slots that then screw slightly clockwise to tighten & hold it in place. I may be wrong. I'm no expert & it is difficult to see. The one in the pic only seems to have one lug allowing it to move which I assume is a bad thing? I am thinking that if it is moving it will affect my performance?

Thanks Spike. So there is no real need for concern then. As long as it isn't moving too much & as long as the car doesn't shake on switch off everything should be ok. And it shouldn't affect performance.
I had a good read through the thread you linked to above. I may contact Vince to see if my EGR has been mapped out.

For reference I checked the cap on my car and think its a snap fit rather than push and turn. I tried to twist the cap and there is about 1mm free movement on the locking tabs.
As you thought, the key is that the engine does not shudder during shutdown - which means the valve is working correctly.

Cheers Spike
