passenger airbag replacemnt

hi, has anyone change a passenger airbag? does the dash have to be removed first in order to access the airbag? is there any other way to reset the airbag light for an MOT without changing the deployed airbag?
i have an a2 1.6se 2005. i would appreciate any answers/ help to the above. thanks, George

you probably have other issues. What *exactly* is the error message? I have an airbag light on because I drove without the seat airbags plugged in; if there's a non-perfect connection somewhere, it could also come up.

So, what's the precise error and code?

A deployed passenger airbag would have ripped through the dashboard. If that is the case, you would need to be replacing the dash as well?
As Brett mentioned - what IS the problem and what codes are being logged?

is there a manual on how to remove a dash?
my passenger's airbag fired, and tomorrow im buying a used one... Just wanted to know this because im unaware of how much money a repair shop usually charges for replacing one :(
