Plans for my A2

Well done Mihai ? That looks a very good match, I can imagine you're pretty chuffed with the result.

Now we know the Volico paint works on BOSE speaker grilles and, from Tom @2work's experience, that their Twist paint is identical to the original (I've seen his resprayed rear cupholder :)) So, this looks like a good alternative for anyone currently searching in vain for Twist BOSE grilles.
Damn it, there I was thinking if I ever wanted to retire I could simply sell the twist Bose grills I have on Tonka! ?

That very set was originally on a breaker I got about 2 years ago, which provided the BOSE system that's now in my Crystal car. Thinking I was going to stay with its black/blue interior, I did a straight swap of that Twist set for some black ones that Joe originally had in your car, and sold the rest of that interior.

Then, not four months later and before the BOSE system had even been fitted, I acquired my second A2: this came with BOSE already in a black interior, along with the opportunity to convert that to Twist ........ ?‍♂️ d'oh! That was one of the two reasons why I ended up doing a combination interior with black armrests and door pockets on Twist doorcards (the other being an upgrade to rear electric windows).

Ironically, most of that interior is now in my Crystal car ....

Just in case someone else is contemplating to respray the Bose grills....the Bose tag can be actually removed. Very carefully though, as the little pins at the back are quite thin but it will save time with the masking ;)

The A2 universe is a comfortingly small one. ? But the law of Sod appears still very much to hold sway!!! ?

Well, last week I said goodbye to my A2, and although it wasn't easy letting it go, knowing that it goes to a fellow club member who is a genuinely nice guy, and who will care for it just like I did, certainly made things much easier!

I can't say a big enough thank you to the members of this amazing club who have helped make this ownership so much more fun and engaging. I've learned a lot and have enjoyed being part of this amazing community of enthusiasts! I will say goodbye for now (meaning that I'll be quietly following the forum, and probably checking the marketplace every now and again).

In a few months, if I still live in this country, and if I can still make a living doing what I do, I might get a car car again. And as Ian @Proghound said, the A2 bug may well bring me back here in the future!

Hi Mihai,

Really sorry that the car didn’t work out for you as I know you had high hopes. It was a pleasure dealing with you on the Bose kit and I hope you’ll be back in an A2 in future. ?

Good luck and take care.

Erling
