Possible non-Audi retrofit product to DIS?

Many thanks to those who posted to my previous query about retro-fitting Audi DIS for the A2. However, it now seems that ScanGuage-II in-car Computer (a non-Audi product) might be a possible solution.

Sold from the USA on the ThinkGeek website, it is already being used by some owners of MG-Rover and Ford vehicles in the UK without an on-board computer - or, in the case of MG-Rover owners, the car manufacturer!

Unsure, as yet, about if available for diesel, but does work with petrol-engined cars. The kit sells for US$169.99 (roughly about £75) plus postage, and you need something called an OBD-II diagnostic connector on your car.

So, if ScanGuage-II was to prove a viable alternative (to the seemingly mega-expensive and complicated Audi original parts retro-fit option) then perhaps more Members without DIS might well be interested.

Meanwhile, has anyone else actually heard of ScanGuage-II ...... or, even successfully installed it on an A2?

Hello Malcolm,
Can you give me an update on your ScanGauge please? Is the mpg display any good?

Thanks
Keith

Hi,
There are so many different programmes on the scan-gauge to choose from that you almost have to consult the manual to remember what they mean. The mpg readout is probably about the same as on the DIS (that is a few % + or -) But I still prefer to measure my mpg on a brim to brim basis. One or two parmeters may be optomistic and where you mount it is important as you tend to take your eyes off the road to press buttons.I have mine on the righthand side of the dash by the small window stuck on with the velcrow suplied ,I did think about putting it in the cubby under the aircon but haven't got around to trying that yet.
Malcolm.
