Hi Alan,

It is not really a feasible mod, cost wise. Everything is possible, if you throw enough cash at it, but this one would need a lot of cash!

It's not worth it either to be honest - yes, I know it;s easy for me to say when I have rear discs (which could do with changing!), but the rears only contribute about 10% of the total stopping power, so go figure.

Now if you wanted to fit headlamp washers and self-leveliing headlamp motors, that's a different matter and one that is currently seeing me pull my hair out!

Cheers,

Mike

nothing is impossible

On the german site, there have been a few who have done it, i can send you some links how to do it,

but in all honesty, i do not know whether the cost and effort will pay for the mod

And yes, i have been thinking about doing that mod myself, but there are other mods that have a higher priority than the rear break mod (like the suspension;) )

I too am thinking of this mod as the rear brakes have been rubbish on ours since day one. At the last "service" we were infomred that they could do with a strip down and rebuild to get the handbrake working properly. (This has never worked well - and we've been fobbed off before). I'm thinking of going to look for some of the stuff secondhand (insurance right off victim - when there is nothing wrong with 90% of the car) and rebuild them using new bits where appropriate. Now just need to find the time.
