Pro Boost FSI remap

It is most likely (virtually certain in my mind) that the build up of "crap" in the inlet manifold, (which causes the flaps to bind, which in turn breaks the linkage and possibly the actuator) comes from the EGR circuit. Using 99 octane, Shell V Power (other brands are available), ensuring fuel burn is as complete as possible by keeping the spark plugs in good nick, making sure engine runs at correct temperature, and using only high quality oil, changed annually is my plan to minimise EGR "crap"
At 50,000 mls, I'm optimistic that my Fizzy will be good for a while yet.

My car has been extremely well maintained throughout its life, and when i got back my old lower inlet manifold @ 88k (from memory) was barely dirty and nothing of what many have talked about in the past. Certainly no build up of heavy deposits and we had full movement of the flaps. In all honesty i don't think it needed changing but an injector certainly did, hence the reason why we were in there. For very well maintained cars the most likely faults are misfire counts because of iffy injectors, it's one of those things, and imo the worst culprit sensors by a mile. Oh and dodgy mechanics who don't know what they're doing.

Good to know, mine has been looked after however I’ve taken this to another level, I’ve used injector cleaner once so far and plan to do this every 6 months to try to keep this at bay, we’ll see how we get on. At some point I’ll take the headlight out and clean the earth so that’s done too which will hopefully help avoid misfires.

Good to know your looking after it. I've done the same, taken it to another level, Oil changes every 5k miles i love the car and use injector cleaner regularly now roughly 3 to 4 full tanks a year with a full bottle of Wyns Gold injector cleaner in there.

I don't think you can be too careful if you love a car. ?
 
@A2Steve, will an FSI, running on the Pro Boost map, still require a minimum of 98 octane petrol, as does the OEM map?

From what I've read on the German thread it can be run on 95 octane, but I will confirm this with Adrian before anyone starts using it in the UK.
 
Do you still need the A2 unique nitrogen oxide (NOx) collection catalyst, or can you replace it with a regular three-way catalyst, if necessary? In that case, you save a lot of money.

I have the Dieseasel version so cannot answer that question BUT it is a good question. Can anyone help ?
 
I asked Adrian, Pro Boost engineering, and he think he tested to disconnect the Lambda/NOX sensor without any errors.
My intention is to test if the Lambda/NOX sensor is completely deactivated after the Pro Boost FSI remap. If so the nitrogen oxide (NOx) collection catalyst should be possible to replace with a standard cat.

Sorry, Steaman, I missed your question when you originally posted it. I only popped onto the thread to give the update.

I thought that the lambda sensor on the cat was a combined unit taking readings for both and that only the NOX element had been deleted by the map. But this information was taken from google translate when reading the German thread, so glad the definitive answer has come from the source.

@BiggDogg that info may be useful for your recent pm to me?

Also, would you be disconnecting it from the passenger footwell before it goes into the NOX controller? Would seem the easiest way to test?
 
The heating element in my Lambda/NOX sensor is faulty so the first indicator is to see if the error has dissapeared. Next step is to disconnect it at the Nox controller outlet connector, and last disconnect the inlet connector.
 
Great, It will be interesting to find out because in time I had hoped to fit a 'racing' cat and stainless system to my FSI.

Keep us posted. I'm hoping to receive the first batch of ECU's in the next few days, but I've just had a Knock sensor error code pop up, so i'm unlikely to see any real benefits of having the new ECU until that's sorted.
 
Any opinion on how the #ProBoost remap differs from the popular @Stealthracing remap? I’ve been planing a Stealth remap for my FSI

I wasn’t aware Stealth did a map for the petrol A2’s?

They do and have for quite some time Steve. Given that they know their stuff when it comes to A2s, it would be useful for you to have a chat with Vince at Stealth and compare the two remapping protocols...
