Problem starting after short trip

Hi, my 2003 1.4 tdi 75, 172,000 miles starts first time every time no matter how cold it is. My problem is difficulty starting after short trips of a mile or so. On return to the car the engine cranks over for ages before firing up. If I drive for 2 or 3 miles and the temp gauge has started to move the car re starts no problem and for the rest of the day. No fault codes. Thank you for any help

My cam position sensor gave similar issues when it was starting to fail with no fault codes logged.

I would be looking at the injector loom and tandem pump. Both probably overdue attention.
