Project Audrey

You don't need to take anything apart to check on flap movement. Using VCDS, it can be done from the comfort of the driver's seat. It's all covered in the P1031 thread.
Mac.

I'm sceptical, but then I am a bit of a technophobe.

Yes, could be the potentiometer. If you check flap movement with VCDS, the results may well give you a clue. If VCDS shows repeatable, partial flap movement, it's probably not the pot. If you see erratic movements, then could be the pot.
One step at a time is my advice.
Mac.

Hi all

Just to put an end to this thread, I’ve had ‘Audrey’ > ‘Flipper’ for the past 3 years. Sat in a garage. I eventually found a local mechanic who was patient enough to work on Flipper (Dolphin grey and I nearly had to get rid of her!!!)

But after

Raft of remedial work - from replacement sensors > new fuel pump > wiring loom repair > heatshield reinstallation (which caused melted nox sensor and dipstick issues) I got my car back two weeks ago.

Many thanks to @Clackers and @depronman and James Blackmore for their patience and guidance.

I’ve just done a 600-mile round-trip and Flipper ran perfect. She just needs gear linkages adjusting as sometimes she does not like to engage 1st or 3rd.

Andy C was the guy who really helped with loads of invaluable parts & advice - without him I was on the edge of giving up.

My local mechanic in Southport Mark was awesome as others had given up and said she was too much time & effort to repair.

This car also has a few parts from @A2Steve inc ProBoost ECU.

I hope I finally can say Flipper is back on the road!

Will upload pics soon. Also numerous others have helped here - too many to mention as the community here is beyond reproach.

Thia is one of those heart warming stories of someone who doesn't know the meaning of 'give up'.
After many messages and phone calls with you Vince, I started to make Flipper a personal goal to get her back up and on the road with you. Like a Phoenix from the flames...
Whilst a lot of parts and advice came from members on here, an awful lot of praise should go to Mark from not turning his back on you and the car...thia would have made a brilliant tv show, almost giving up, throwing of tools, shaking of heads...'we'll never finish this project','its too far gone'...only to finally drive her out and smile from ear to ear...Fuzz and Tim would be proud!!!!
Well done, take a bow, look forward to seeing it in the flesh one day 👍👍👍👍
