Well today I attempted to replace the number plate light but the screws currently holding it in have snapped and one is just not coming out so what size drill bit do I need to drill the screws out and what size are the screws I need to refit in the number plate lights ? ?

I Also snapped one of the number plates trying to get them off as all the screws where rotten

Now that’s what I call a bodge job ? lol?

Mine was rusted too. You should change the unit itself. It's a bit of a pain but worth it.
If you need more help I will find the thread for it.

Hi all next month I’m wanting to change the cambelt and water pump on Doris but I was wondering what is the best out there for a 1.4 BBY? ?

Evening Louis,

Am I right in thinking you’re in or near Coalville. If so I used Tyre King (just off London Road) to do the work. I forget exactly what they ordered but it was certainly a factory type replacement from TPS. They are pretty good with an A2 as they also replaced the clutch last year. Reasonable labour charges also.

I can PM you what I was charged for cam belt and water pump when I get home tomorrow evening.

Kind regards,

Tom

:oops:Sorry to say: It's not gonna happen......... You need at 1 or 2mm drill max, but centering the drill on the broken piece will be tricky.
I had the same, what I did was heating up the broken piece with a soldering iron.
If you have a small tip on the iron, then you can also push it inside the plastics along the broken screw, till it's got room to be pulled/turned out with some pointy tipped pliers.
If the scew hole is to big after removal, just rework the area with the soldering iron (melt and push plastics back in).
The screw with it's head still attached can be heated up with the soldering iron, and when there's enough play, then screw it out.

Screw size is 3.5x16mm, if I'm correct, and use stainless steel ones, saves you a lot next time.........?;)

Well today on project Doris I replaced the key fob case as the old one was terrible :)

Is this the small chip everyone was going on about saying be careful when removing if so mine was covered in glue and it’s broken in 2 pieces :)

If this is that chip what do I do to solve the issue as now I’m not going to be able to get in the car

Please help guys

Do I need a new ECU and key fobs ?

This chip is for the immobilizer, would have to get another key reprogrammed or have the immobilizer in the ecu programmed out,so you can use the keys you have

Thanks
Pete

Can I still start the car and use it how it is or will it not start now as the immobilizer is broken :)

No spare key I take it? A GOOD auto locksmith will have the equipment to programme a new immo chip to the existing ECU / dash.

If cost is to high for you with a auto locksmith, ask paul (depronman) on here if he could blank out the immobilizer in the ecu for ya
