Project Doris

You would have to ask Paul directly on that one. Try above first, then ask Paul, turning off immobo is frowned upon by insurance companies.

Louis, have you tested the broken transponder as it might still work(the glass is there for protection only). Transponders (ID48) are £3-4, VCDS lite with $99 registration can be used to program a new transponder to your car.

It’s broken in half bud and all over the floor :(

Inside the chips, you need special cable and reader to get this info. Audi will not even supply you that info. That is why I am trying my hardest to steer you towards the Auto Locksmiths as the better ones can connect up to the car and get the immo code, build up the key and program it to the car.

Some members on here probably have the cable / software to read the immo chip / dash, perhaps Tom @timmus can help. BUT as I have said unless someone is very near to you go the locksmith route.

I’ll give the locksmiths a call tomorrow :)

Thanks for your help everyone I appreciate it :)

You need the 4 digit immo code from the dash. VCDS in any form CAN NOT retrieve that info
Good point, my VCDS cable works fine with VAG Commander to retrieve the SKC. There are good instructions on A2OC though it's not a job I'd necessarily recommend.

2 keys for any car is always better, ask them about a second key even if it is non folding just for emergencies. I know I am old but didn't think my eyes were that bad . Sorry Louis but I cant make out anything from that picture.

You could try placing all the broken bits of the chip together and taping them onto the steering column shroud very near the ignition switch. IF it still works then it will continually send the signal to turn off the immo and the car will start. But if it is broken then the car still will not start.

Ah to be young ( with good eyesight ). No use telling you now but if you had left the upper half of the key as it was with its scratches and wear and only replaced the lower remote cases then there would have been no problem with the immo chip. Old adage if it aint broke then its not a FSI. Oops wrong adage if it aint broke dont fix it.:D:p:p;)

Louis where are located you as I can help out with the SKC and programme a replacement key for you.

Let’s get the SKC first and then order the correct immobiliser chip. It’s been a while since I messed about with such things after I done the exact same thing as you a few years ago.

Kind regards,

Tom

PM sent Tom :)

Just been doing likewise and a word of caution when gluing the immobiliser chip in. I was very careful but unbeknown to me I got got some glue on the side wall of the immobiliser recess and started to assemble the two halfs. Halfway together it started to stick, eek panic!!, realised the problem and just managed to separate the halfs and left it to dry and scraped off the excess glue the next day. Lucky, I could have permanently bonded the two halfs together.

Also made a faux pas assembling the spring. One press of the button and the blade pinged closed!! Tried it again and wound it the other way!
