Has anyone got a link for A2 number plate light screws ? :)

 
Well today I took the back panel of Doris and replaced the number plate lights :)

Thank you @P stamp and @Fallan for supplying me good parts :)


While taking the back panel off I managed to snap the clips off :mad: one come completely off and the other two where hanging on by a thread?:rolleyes:

Anyway I super glued the clips back on as most people do when they break off and I must say there now stronger than when they left the factory ?:)

If anyone does have a spare panel laying around feel free to send me a PM :) I know the clips are stronger than when they left the factory but it’s making my OCD go crazy knowing it’s not original ?

It doesn’t really matter the coulor of the panel as she is going for a full respray after September and I’m sure they will have to take that panel off to get to any little marks etc :)

Today I booked Doris in for a cambelt and water pump and also booked him in for he’s MOT

Let’s hope no advisories :) ??

Will update you on the 4th September that’s when he’s going in :)
 
Just a update I’ve been looking through the service history and found out that she had a cambelt and water pump at 45k so no need to get it changed YAY :)

I’ll get it done at 100k :)
 
Louis, what was the date on the cambelt change? I'm sure the current wisdom is 5 years or 60k, whichever is sooner. I know it's another cost but it's a lot less than a replacement engine. With both of mine having been done in the last year I face the prospect in a few years' time of changing them both again, each with only 20-30k covered since the last one :eek:
 
I’ve had a look at the belt guys and it looks newish and there’s no cracks or anything in it thankfully :)

I’m planning on getting it done in the next couple of months :)
 
Well today everyone I tried changing the thermostat all went well until I found out I’ve got the wrong thermostat :(



I’ve also managed to break a little bit of plastic off one of the guides I think you call them and the little plastic bit has gone down this little hole (I’m sure it will be fine :))

The bit that broke off and now has vanished down a hole after trying to get it out

I’m sure this has happed to many people before :(:)

Anyway after swearing at it a lot I thought let’s just put it back together and let the mechanic change it :)

After putting it all back together how it was in the first place I filled her up with coolant and then started her up and let her sit on the drive for around 15 minutes and she’s got back to running temperature as she should :)

The only reason I was replacing the thermostat was because it would get up to running temperature on the drive just ticking over but as soon as you put the heat on the temp would go down to 60c/70c :)

Anyway she’s fine but I will get her booked in at the garage soon as it will be soon winter lol :)?
 
Today I cleaned and put new coma grease in the OSS tracks :)

I must say it was worth doing as my skyroof now sounds slightly quieter
