Project Flipper

It's a tough one, I like the idea but in that picture there is a lot going on, red on the tail light, yellow on the number plate, body colour, chrome strip (considered painting/plasti-dipping this black by the way?)

I wonder if it would look a little less busy if it picked up on a colour that's already there?

I know what your saying, I like the idea but in practise I'm not so sure. Yes my plan's to paint the chrome strip black I just haven't got round to doing it yet ,I'm also planning on tinting the rear lights so it might look better once that's all done

Orange looks OK perhaps if the letters were still chrome would look bit better. You could also try the "cheat" on the outside temp sensor so you can try the heated mirrors. Get a can of spray refrigerant and spray the sensor to drop the temp reading below 5 degrees, then mirrors should work.

Today I changed the number plate surrounds from the Red Audi logo'd ones to ones with Orange S line logos, I think it's starting to look a bit better now that there's more orange to tie in with

Chrome be gone! That's the last remaining bit of chrome painted black, I also tinted the rear lights last night and fitted them tonight I dropped the wheels of this morning to get powder coated and the new tyres are due to arrive on Monday so things are starting to take shape.

Please take the tint of the lights it looks hideous on a A2 :(

What floats your boat I guess :);)

Must say looking good just don’t like the lights :p:D

I better not post a pic of the headlights then as I've tinted them as well ???

I'm going for a dark stealth kind of look on this one and the lights just look to bright for the look I'm trying to achieve, Once I get the wheels and tyres back I'll post some better pics of the complete car and see if it still offends you as much lol

It’s a good job I don’t know where you live as in the middle of the night you would look out the window and see a 16 year old boy (me) with a hair dryer peeling the tint off lol hahaha ??:p;)?

You'd be there for a while with your hairdryer.....it's spray on tint ???

If it makes you any happier my Cobalt blue Tdi is completely factory spec except for a set of A1 alloys

Yes I’m a bit happier now lol ?

Well you’d see me taking the tinted ones out and putting non tinted ones in

And then you’d see me bin the tinted ones lol ?

It's a kit that comes with a removal spray just in case you get a grumpy mot tester or a moany 16yr old lol

I've used bits off my breaker so everything could go back to standard in an afternoon but I'm sure once you see the completed car you'll change your mind bearing in mind it's a project car not a keeper

That’s why before I take my car for its MOT I ask the tester if he’s in a good mood or not ?

If he’s not in a good mood I book it in for another day lol ?

The latest upgrade to Project Flipper is the newly powder coated wheels with brand new 205 40 17 tyres and new pair of Bosch rear drums painted orange. The next job is the coilovers due to the annoyingly large gaps in the arches ??? Oh and I also got the private plate transferred on to it

That's coming together nicely :) I like the orange detail on the center caps.

Thanks! I'm happy with how it's turning out although I'm hating the gaps in the arches now  That was just a trail run with the old caps, the chrome on the Audi rings was flaking in places so they look a bit shabby close up but I've got a new set coming that I'll do to a nicer finish. I've also got to decide whether to tint the fog lights yellow or smoked????

Smoked fogs yes. Don't add more colour. Grey / orange. Done.
Looks good so far

Mine is looking pretty gappy as well and I’m running 205/55R16s!

I’m wondering how massive a gap there must be with normal sized tyres. 205/45R16 is stock-sized so a 20mm difference.

I'm pretty sure a previous owner has accidentally fitted the wrong springs, maybe ones meant for a car with an OSS or something because it definitely sits 20-30mm higher than my Colbalt blue Sport which is running factory spec suspension. I've got a nice new set of Jom coilovers to fit so it's just a matter of time before it all gets sorted out. It's just hard to live with in the meantime :mad::mad:

Latest update on Project Flipper is the new coilovers have now eventually been fitted, they give the car a much nicer stance while really improving the handling compared to the tired old suspension and yes they are a bit harder but nowhere near as bad as I was expecting.

I've also tinted the fog lights and made the headlights a bit darker so everything now matches at the front end, I noticed there was also a tiny bit of corrosion starting at the base of the drivers B pillar cover that was annoying me so I ordered some 4d carbon wrap to cover it but then realised I had a good spare on my breaker but the wrap arrived so I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did, they came out surprisingly well for my first ever attempt at wrapping anything.
