Not too much soft touch ware and a Chorus head unit performed perfectly well for my first 3-4 years of A2 ownership, but could really do with something double it’s size. Must resist as I also have a spare in the garage with custom firmware installed all ready to go.

Again not too bad on the soft touch front. Could do with a bespoke footrest along with TT pedals. No spares so that might have to wait. Also that steering wheel is a little too round and missing a couple of thumb rollers, again must resist!

Afternoon all,

Thank you for the kind words and feedback. Yes I agree that the colour is simply beautiful. I’ve also always admired Pine Green but Merlot Red is certainly high up in my colour preference, probably not back in the early naughtiest though.

Both Merlot Red and Pine Green look extremely elegant when fitted with a contrasting Twist interior. If this was to become my daily commuter then I do have a Twist interior but it’s staying where it is.

Yes this addition has pushed the A2 count to 4 on the driveway, just addictive and I cannot resist a bargain when one is presented before me.

I’ll be adding more details to this thread in the next few days once I’ve got the initial parts list compiled along with the faults that I’ve inherited.

Have black sport leather in mine. Another good contrast IMO plus easier to keep clean 😂

Hope all is good with you and yours along the road Sir. It’s a fantastic looking A2 for sure.

I’m still investigating the faults provided by many scans by swapping injectors around to determine the possible cause of a misfire. Should have that solved when I can spare an hour on evening this coming week.

Once I’ve finished tinkering I’ll add the faults and work required to get this back to performing perfectly as a daily.

I wonder what your neighbors think about the 4x A2s. Probably soon, others around you will start buying them as well, thinking that car must be so good, if you got 4 of them.
Well, they wouldn't be wrong! The A2 is a great car indeed 😃

Morning all,

After continuing with working through the fault codes on this spectacular A2, it came apparent that it has a suspect head gasket failure. There was over pressure within the coolant reservoir which caused coolant to leak from the join of the return flow pipe and the reservoir itself. I initially thought this to possibly be a failed PRV within the blue coolant cap (if one actually exists) so have since swapped it with a known good cap from a TDI which also produced the same over pressure and leak.

When I took this on I really was hoping to just rectify the common FSI faults that it came with but just cannot open the wallet for a potential head gasket replacement, quite gutted as its such a lovely A2 and deserves to be saved. The actual remaining faults (attached) don't look too bad in all honesty and feel that I could have resolved them in a short time to have this in good fettle ready for some retrofits but...

I have since decided to sell it on exactly as it was when it arrived not very long ago, with declaring all the faults that I have noticed to date. After a 3 hour inspect yesterday, I can confirm it no longer sit on my driveway. Its has gone to another member who will do right by this glorious FSI. The member will possibly make themselves know when the time is right.

I'm really gutted to have to part ownership with this one as it has so much potential but I just couldn't commit to a 4 figure garage bill should the head gasket turn out to have failed. There was no milky oil and the coolant was clean/pink but I couldn't understand this over pressure in the cooling system, which is the main reason to allow someone else with better mechanical skills than myself to continue the renovation.

If it is a headgasket gone then it will be between the combustion chamber and a water channel hence the overpressurising but no oil in the coolant.

I’ll get photos of the other thing we were discussing over to you asap Tom.
