Project peperami - (A2Steve)

I’m not an expert but I think she’s on the up again. Everything now seems to be working, give or take, and we’re now at the paint-touch up stage.

Back in October @Erlingtheyounger @Hef and I had been in conversation about Peppa. She was at the time with a friend of his who'd bought her in a very sorry state. Hef had shown an interest in buying her as a project.

Hef and I drove over to have a look at her and oh my word, I was so devastated when I saw the state she was now in. The first photo hides a lot.

The paintwork was ruined, the brake pads had been allowed to run metal on metal and the shards of metal had travelled up the side of the car and burned through all of the paintwork. There was a key mark up the drivers side and someone had used a rattle can to spray the back drivers door. There was brake fluid leaking from the rear caliper, the back brakes were binding to the point where the wheels had become so hot they had melted the paint. The interior was filthy and stained. The turbo was spewing oil and there was hole in the intercooler pipes. The car also appeared to have been in smash, because the front panel was pushed back to the point where the intercooler was almost rubbing on the alternator. She really was on the cusp of being scrapped. If Hef hadn't decided to proceed with buying, I was going to make an offer on the car as a breaker.

Luckily for the car, Hef did a deal and got her home on a recovery truck and made a start. I'll let him fill in the details of the work that's been done, but its safe to say its been a very busy few months for him. It's nowhere near complete but she's only a full respray and new turbo away from being an excellent example again.

Hmmm prepare for seat fitment questions!! They look like really decent seats and those alloys are a very nice look. What a car. Iis this still 148BHP hybrid turbo running stock 90 injectors?

S3 recaros - I sold my former Cobalt TDI with a black set of those in it. Never quite got on with them myself, but absolutely the right thing for a nearly 150hp A2 on coilovers ?
I certainly found them very comfortable but bloody heavy :)

The car was on 148bhp on a standard intercooler and pipework, its now using a Timmus intercooler and pipework and a 3 inch custom de-cat downpipe, so there's a good chance that when the new turbo is fitted it will be going over the 150hp mark I would think.

A good starting point would be the thread on retrofitting similar seats from a Golf by Hooley

Cheers Spike
