Project Pine Green 1.6

Have taken pine green to work today, the new exhaust sounds great and whats better is that i've solved the petrol leak I had. No longer high as a kite by the time I get to work (which is arguably a shame).

Looking forward to driving it home again shortly, I just don't get that same excitement from other makes and models.

Today I finally got around to a job I’ve been putting off for so long. The dash swap to black. I’ve lost count of how many dashboards I’ve removed but I’ve never had to refit one. What an absolute pig of a job that is!! Whatever price you guys are paying @timmus for a DD dash conversion it is worth every penny.

I will never ever be doing this job again. Accessing all the screws isn’t an issue, but getting the dash back in and lined up properly is a pig.

Anyway

I’ll be spitting the doorcards to have a black top rail and the rest of the doorcard cream to keep everything uniform. But I think it’s looking a damn site better now.

Looks good Steve and well done for the refit. There is actually a similar coloured dash contrast in the original A2 brochure which I've always admired. Pine green too 👍 :)

That'll look nice Steve - looking forward to the pictures, and seeing it in the real at the Elan Valley run 👍

In later years you could specify Twist with a black dash and contact points. I had a breaker with that spec some years back. At that time you could also get the boot in black with Twist and Platinum - again the breaker was one, and the Cobalt FSI in Platinum is another.

Well done Steve. Looks a lot better in black. Love the steering wheel too

The dash two tone colouring is lovely in your car Ian. 👍 😍

Evening Steve,

That looks utterly brilliant mate. I love the Soul/Twist combination, looks just right. The Jive coloured interior items are not so modern looking and spoil the interior in my eyes.

Such a great car rising from the ashes. Splendid work.

Kind regards,

Tom

It needs a damn good clean now and I also managed to stick my knee through the passenger dash vent but that’s easily sorted.

I just think the lower section of the doorcard being cream will break things up a bit.

Have to decide on headliner colour next. I’m thinking of going back alcantara.

@George Hogg popped in this morning on his way back with his newly purchased TDI90 and had a go of the car. I think it may have deafened him so perhaps an extra backbox may be needed.

Lol, it’s a lovely drive, thank you for the opportunity Steve it looks even better in person too. Nice to have a blether and thanks for the bits. I’m happier driving back with a spare wheel too

Exactly what I’m planning for Tonka which is very similar in appearance to what you’ll end up with soul/twist wise.

Are you planning on DIY or have you a recommendation for a trimmer?

No I’ve got a set of cream doorcards here so I’ll be using the bottom half of those and the top half of my existing ones and bonding them back together,
