Quality non genuine thermostat options pls

me too same stat from same place - working perfectly
the stat is identical in EVERY way to the Audi one that came out other than the VW logo is missing (there is a blank space where it would have been) When I say identical I really mean it even down to the crimps where the two parts are joined - this leads me to believe that the stat comes from the same factory as the genuine Audi stat

Cheers,
Paul

I don't think that Circoli are an oem manufacturer

They may have explain my situation.
What part number was the Meyle one? @Kaz

this is the one I purchased - just waiting for delivery - meyle parts are very good - 2 year warranty on them and never had any issues with other parts for my other cars.

Out of interest and ignorance, is there a difference between the 75 and 90 thermostat?
I'm pretty sure they are the same thermostat used across the who vag range of that era - its the same one that went in my sisters beetle, a golf, Octavia and others that I put it in

Unless the thermostat states an "opens at" temperature that matches the Audi OEM (82 or 87 C in this example), it isn't OEM spec.
Engine running temperature is important, and if the designer intended it to be 87C (for example), then that's what it should be. To achieve that, you'd need an 87C thermostat. When aftermarket suppliers quote compatibility, they are talking about mechanical fit, not temperature.
Mac.

The Gates TH11287G1 shows the opening temperature as 87C, so is OEM spec. I'd be happy with that.
Mac.
Edit: They look like a quality manufacturer too.

What about the Webasto auxiliary heater, is that working? I think that there is a breakeven point with the Webasto such that f you are only doing short trips in cold weather that without the Webasto you do use more fuel altogether, but on long trips it makes less difference if it's not working. I know that my Webasto has not been working ever since I had the car and always get less mpg in the winter because of this, low 50s compared to high 50s (which is why I do intend to try and get it fixed this year if I can). I do drive a commute of 25 miles each way and only get up to temp after I get on the motorway on cold mornings/evenings after at least 10 miles or so.
Having said that I most definitely did see a difference a couple of years ago after changing the thermostat, before that it was even worse...

Nope - that doesn't work either and I don't know where to start on that one!

So - i replaced my thermostat with a Meyle one and...... the issue is still the same.

Im putting it down to an over efficient engine and the webasto not working
