Quick question about detailing - wax after polish?

To the detailing gurus here, I have a question!

This morning I have washed and clayed the car, done a surface polish with Autoglym Super Resin, and have just applied the Autoglym Perfectionist Gloss coat.
This is now baking off in the sunshine, so whilst it does that, I would like to know - is it worth/necessary to apply a wax layer AFTER I've buffed the Gloss coat? Will it make any difference?

You can add a wax if you want - the AG gloss coat will protect a little bit but a decent couple of layers of wax or sealant over the top will seal and protect all your hard work beforehand.

If you want to keep in the AG family then some AG HD wax over the top will serve as a good protection. It's dead easy to use and gives a great beading finish in my experience - especially on red:

And you're better off not doing it in direct sunlight but on cool panels when polishing or waxing BTW.

Cheers. The Perfectionist Gloss says it is a sealant, but I think I will give it a wax coat as well. Give my arms a good workout!

Dan, as Dal mentioned direct sunlight and detailing is a no go from past experience, you can cause damage to the finish due to the products baking to the paintwork and acting more like an abrasive cleaner than a polish, a lesson i learned a long time ago on a black car.

Finished. Sheesh my arms ache!
I'm rubbish at taking photos of cars, but I'll try and take a few snaps in a minute

Looks lovely! Good job!!

(Silly me - I thought your car was red like your avatar  )

Cheers! It certainly took a lot of effort. Rubbing off the wax was much harder than either of the polish stages. Pleased with the results though not bad for 12 year old paint.

My avatar is the grille from my much loved 1991 Audi S2 quattro coupe which I had for 5 years but had to sell when children came along. A proper rocket ship that car and sounded great with the 5cyl turbo. Heigh ho.

Looks grand Dan, I'm sure it was worth the effort.
Good job at least I know how mine will look (as its silver too) should I carry out a wax job.
