Hi All,

Ive had my A2 1.4TDI a month. Done about a 1000 miles allready. Love it. There is though, a little rattle on the drivers side. I took it to local garage and they say the link bar needs replacing. Anyway, I bought the ARB link Bar as I know a supplier locally who had one left in stock. Is it easy to fit. ??? Shall I just pay a garage to do it???. The lad I bought it off had the link bar changed 12 mths ago along with Belt, Water Pump.

If you handy with tools do it yourself, its only two nuts just hope you've got the tools if they are stuck heres a photo of my new one fitted when i fitted FSD's

I had read on here about these FSD's and it was June last year i had Cruise fitted by Mike (Skipton) and i went out in Tank and i've been saving to get these done ever since, its been said over and over but it does feel like a lot bigger car and so much better, this is what the A2 should be like and if it had these on as STD alot more would have been sold ;)

As i said 2 nuts and its off, good luck lets hope its not seized on ;):D

Phil

PS thought i would post the photo with the new one on as you can see it standing out as to what you need to take off;)

Hi ChrispA2
If your unlucky the nuts can seize up. There is a torx bit recess in the centre of the stud which can be used to prevent the stud turning while slackening the nut. If you are really unlucky then its out with the Dremel or angle grinder. Once the nuts are slack I found it easier to drop the car back onto its wheels. This takes all the loading out of the roll bar and allows the drop links to come off without force

Cheers Spike

I jacked the hub up whilst car on axle stands, one had seized so popped the bushes up and used a steelson
off in no time.;)

Thanks All. Got the Car up on a Ramp and having access from underneath managed to get the Link Bar off. Easy when its daylight. Fitted the new link and no rattle. Hurrraaaah!!!! Cheers lads. Chris.

Hope all goes well. Going back to that automotivetouchup website, they have some sandpaper that goes up to 1000/1500 maybe even finer grit for that final step. Its waterproof too if you want to wetsand. Good price, nothing more than a Lowes/HD. Id say that would be a good final investment for all your projects.
