Re disabling alarm

New owner of our 1.4tdi has posted disabling alarm as alarm keeps going off.Only thing I have disturbed recently is took bonnet off to give car a visual check over and to free off service hatch retainer as it had stuck. Now this morning I have took bonnet off our “new A2” car to see where switch/or sensor for bonnet is and found the switch on ours is a rubber button just right of oil filler!! So I have left service hatch open and set alarm! It hasn’t set alarm off !! Which is a surprise as if the switch is not for the alarm what is it for?Puzzled !,

Unless the switch is jammed closed the alarm will not be set with the service flap open. To prove the switch is working you can press the button in by hand and hold it then lock the car, you should see the indicators flash to confirm armed. After a few seconds release the button and if working correctly the alarm will trigger. The button can be knocked out of its location quite easily so it is possible for the switch to be at an angle and jam.

Didn’t work!, switch appears to push in and out ok.Held it in and set alarm.released and alarm didn’t go off.light flashing on door ok.

With the flap open do the indicators flash when you lock the car? If yes then the switch is jammed closed. If not then press the switch in and the indicators should flash.

Now got it working! I think switch may have jammed! It now sounds the alarm when I release switch to simulate service flap being open! Thanks for help

That is the way it should be. Make sure the switch is located correctly. The indicators will only flash if all switches are set correctly i.e. all 4 doors, tailgate and service hatch firmly closed.
