Information Re Under dash panel.

So ok guys, my man went to change my clutch pedal switch, John wingnut said just remove the panel under the steering column, but how. He removed the single torx screw but could get no further. Was reluctant to yank too hard as it all looks a bit brittle. Any ideas how this comes away? which way to pull/lever etc. Dont want to break anything. Looks like the switch is just clipped in, but will cross that one when we access it. Cheers Colin.

Hi Colin.

You dont need to remove any screws to remove the panel under the steering column.

What you need to do is pull out the lights switch. Push the light switch in and turn right as if you are turning on the lights. You then pull the whole unit out. You don't need to pull it out far just a inch or so.the panel underneath just pops off then from the top. I think there is only a couple of clips from memory.

Thanks David. Sarge has sent me an email with a pic and instructions. Looks like you have to remove the 2 torx screws one of which is behind the side trim? Im beginning to hope that my new vac pipe arrives before we do this as the switch still looks a pig to get to and work out how it unclips. Might be a total waste of time but gotta start somewhere. Cheers Colin

Colin, there are definitely two silver torx screws securing the panel. The right side screw is hidden by the lower A post/sill trim cover which should be removed for better access. You will also need to unclip both the diagnostic socket and the bonnet release handle. There are also snap clips on the top edge which are released with a smart tug.

I stand corrected. I have not removed it completely off before, just Droppef it forward to gain access.

You you are best listening to the more knowledgeable members lol

Thanks Guys. Now just got to wait for rain to stop and will have a go. The switch looks fairly easy to change once you can get to it. If you never hear from me again you will know I am stuck down the tunnel. Cheers Colin.
