Hi,
Each year or so the rear beam and subframe get a coating on new grease or engine oil to stop rust.
It is real easy to do all that you need is a face mask, enclosed goggels, gloves, stiff brush, rags, paint brush and pot, toothbrush, cardboard and oil.

Prep the area with the stiff brush to remove dirt and stones use the tooth brush for in the corners, just get the worst of it off no need for finnesse. Then lay the card on the floor to catch the oil drips.
Put the oil in the pot and paint it over the surface. Wipe off the excess with your stash of rags and that's your rear beam refurb done for another year in an hour and a half.

No, rust converter it is not needed here the light rust and dirt captures the oil and holds onto it. We want a surface that's absorbent so in this case the smooth surface left by the converter is no good for the oily preservation method.
If I were to use rust converter I would smear grease into the corners and along the welds.

As long as there is a bit of grease or oil on the surface it will make it last like the unberbelly of a leaky tractor
