Rear Brake caliper replacement.

So, it would appear I need a new OSR brake caliper for my FSI. The pads that side are excessively low, and i suspect that it has been stuck by the residue on the wheel.
Do I get one from Ebay, or is it worth the extra getting the Pagid from Euro car parts?
I tried to wind the caliper back, but it seemed stuck. Should it be done ignition on or off? (Not download manuals yet!!)

Also, the caliper carrier mounting bolts (to hub) I couldn't budge. Torx head. Suggestions for removal apart from Plusgas, wishful thinking, and bucket of luck before the head/tool gets mullered.

Thanks.

Aren't they 7mm hexagon Allen socket head? The front calipers are on my 1.4 petrol. I've just done mine.
I thought they were Torx at first, and it does fit, but will damage the head if it's very tight.
Mine did loosen with it, but I used a hexagon to finish removal and refit, tightening to 30Nm (22 lbs/feet).
Use penetrating oil as you have done, and try tightening it a little first. This can work; it's an old trick.
Good luck Phil, Keith.

I will double check with the other side. The picture I took certainly looked Torx. I only tried the once, and felt the improper grip.
Thanks for the heads up :)

I bought a pair of rear calipers from this eBay seller for £65 delivered earlier this year - they are aftermarket but apart from a dragging handbrake (caused by the handbrake cable though, not the caliper itself), all good.

You could message them and ask them if they still have some.

I'm only referring to the slider bolts which are hidden within the rubber sleeve. Sorry, if you mean other bolts, which need a higher torque.
They may be different on rear calipers. I have rear drums.

Silly question. To wind the piston in is the conventional way clockwise on both sides I presume. My current piston winder is too big and need a new one
