Hey All

In need of assistance yet again, yesterday while at work Me A2 was parked in the car park and some F****r:mad:(Curse be on him) hit My rear bumper a ran which scuffed the paint work and also unclipped the bumper, so if anyone would be kind enough to help me wee A2 out of this mess and guide me with the realignment of the bumper, so it looks normal!!!

Cheers,

Here's a picture to make things clear!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your bad fortune there Alam. :( Some people are just so thoughtless and ignorant. Maybe too selfish to own up and affect their insurance or dont have insurance in the first place.

Might be an idea for you to nip over to Skipton Autos to get the bumper removed and ensure all is OK - remember the A2 can develop a leak in the boot if the vents behind the bumper get dislodged. From previous similar events, I do recall the gurus saying the A2 is pretty well protected against these kind of low speed collisions in this area of the car though.
Keep your ears open for a reputable smart repair franchise nearby that can fix the bumper scuff for you without breaking the bank. All in all it doesnt look too bad from your photo, good luck getting things back to normal. ;)

Hey Alam, sorry to hear about your incident. I have had the same but on the opposite rear corner, with exactly the same result. I have tried to lightly 'pop' it back into the slots, but fear that I might hurt Shoby Car  if I push it too hard, as it seems to need a fair amount of force. So I have left it as it is for now and will come back to it when I get some time.

Thanks for the input Sarge, so Am guessing you have to take apart the bumper inorder to slot the bumper back in, So if anyone could upload the picture of disassembly from the workshop manual, so i can have a go at fixing this my self.

Well some say that you can simply 'pop' it back in with a controlled push, without the need for it to be taken apart. I just haven't spent any real time on it as yet.

ha a problem I fix at work alot, just use a flat screw driver to push the high spot down (the part of the bumper sticking up touching the quarter) being carefull not to slip and scratch the paint or stab yourself:D, then as has been said a simple smack with your hand should put it back in place. I would have some one look at it for further damage tho but it should look ok and pop back in without much trouble from what I can see

hope it helps
and sorry to hear it mate

Just had another look at the pic just pushing the high spot down may send it to is origanal posistion without a wack because that is all that is holding it out you should'nt have to take the bumper apart, and I wouldnt think their is'nt much (if any) damage behind the bumper but thats just from looking at the picture but I could be wrong

I personally wouldn't use a screwdriver in there, I would use a plastic substitute like a spatula or the like. But put several layers of papertape or something to protect the edge first.

Is there any damage to the face of the bumper? or was it just pressed so popping the side out ?, as Scott put pushing that high spot down it may just go back into shape
