My A2 was recently involved in a minor accident resulting in the need to remove, respray and refit the rear bumper. Neither the authoirsied repairer or my local Audi dealer have been able to refit the bumper correctly. Where the bumper meets the rear wing on each side it should fit flush however mine now protrudes by about 5mm on each side and is only level with the wing at the point where it meets the wheel arch. I am told this is because the bumper is held on with clips rather than the nuts and bolts used on the current A3 and A4. Is there anyone out there who could recommend a solution to return my car to its former pristine condition.

The bumper does fit together with the wings and arches with the precision of a Swiss watch, however, clips are not used, only screws (and lots of them).

I suggest you go back to the dealer as the way it's fitted at the moment is not right.

They'll need to remove both rear wheel arch liners and loosen the aarches to do the job properly.

Cheers,

Mike

mine's the same, just protruding a little each side, one day i'll have a go at clipping it in correctly, there's no sign of any repairs but i guess it may have had a tap years ago and the evidence is long gone.

There might not be clips but there are plastic guides both sides. These can break on light impact. Even if this hasn't happened if the rear bumper is not slid onto them correctly it will never fit right.
