Rear caliper problem

Hi All,
I have encountered a problem on changing the rear discs and pads on my 1.6 SE FSI.
I changed the discs easily enough but simply cannot get the caliper piston to go far enough in to fit a new set of green pads.
I have tried turning the piston clockwise and it moves freely enough and goes in a little, turning it anticlockwise sees the piston coming out of the body so I guess clockwise is the right way to turn it?
Any help will be much appreciated.:D

There is a special wind-back tool for VW group calipers, so it may be worth getting hold of one. There is nothing special that needs moving or anything like that.

Cheers,

Mike

If you can't get hold of the real tool required I've used a G Cramp before. Basically set the Cramp up on the caliper so that it puts light pressure on the piston. Then turn the piston and the screw on the cramp at the same time. You may need to borrow an extra arm (or two). (Or butcher the end of the cramp so that it has two lugs to fit the slots on the piston top) It only needs light pressure to help it on its way. Oh yeh and don't forget to take the cap of the brake fluid resevoir.

Good luck

Cheers
Jonathan
