Rear seat help needed!

Hi all
Trying to get one of my rear seats out today and it is completely stuck. I have looked through the old threads on this matter but nothing is helping. I have a spare so I have proceeded to take the base apart to see if I could get into it that way but nothing. I’m not bothered if the seat is destroyed, I just need it out. The bottom seat handle is broken so I’m trying to move the seat out with the curved handle it attaches to but it won’t move enough to unlock the base. I’ve tried shifting the whole seat about etc but it just won’t free itself. Anybody offer any solutions? Been trying for 2 hours and got nowhere! Help!

Is the seat in the folded position or is it wedged in solid at the top also?
Not wedged at the top no, the top opens and closes fine, just the bottom, which no has no seat pad on, I removed it to see inside. I’m pulling the lever which would have had the handle attached, but it won’t give enough to allow me to lift the seat base forward.

OK, so one rear corner of the base is probably sitting higher than the other, you should be able to tell which just by feel although it should also be visible from the rear. Fold the back of the seat down onto the base and, kneeling right on top of the higher corner, activate the lever as if you were pulling up on the bottom handle that's broken. Then that corner should slot into its hole, which will allow the rear catches to unlock, to tilt the base forward and remove the seat.

Thanks, I will have a look again later or tomorrow. I haven’t got the energy or the patience to have another go at it! ?

Sorry Darren, it has been out (I remember vacuuming under it). My (limited) knowledge is that the seat base removal latch is triggered by the back folding down which I believe is the issue. I also recall using a bent pry bar though it didn't require huge force.

I’ll try again in the morning, the other seat is out so I have plenty of room, but it doesn’t look like it is twisted to me, I have taken the seat cushion off so I could see what the latch was actually doing, it looks like it is not pulling far enough when I move the lever to me, I’ll see in the light tomorrow.

Even when both the rear corner bolts are properly engaged in their holes, sometimes it's necessary to kneel on the front edge of the folded-down seat back in order to engage the latch that allows the bottom handle to be lifted to release the seat.

This is almost certainly the issue, it feels like this latch isn't being triggered. Smurf had similar issues with both, I had to work the seat mechanism a few times before they remembered what they were supposed to be doing (yes, I know they're inanimate though something fell into place).

It Is vanishingly rare to have to dismantle (I.e. something has to have been broken internally) to resolve this problem. There are multiple threads covering this and virtually all are resolved with pressure in the right place whilst pulling the handle. Only when the folded seat is locked in the folded position will the rear handle pull all the way and release the locating pegs. Even when you hear the click when kneeling on the top edge (now front) it can still be a hard pull, keeping pressure on the top edge whilst pulling helps (but a balancing act!). It sounds as though you have no handle to pull on so you will probably need a second person trying to operate what is left of the handle mechanism!
Search in Google with A2OC in the the search to find all the threads. i.e. ‘Rear seats stuck a2oc’

Well I have tried everything I can, but to no avail, I am unable to get the seat out. As I mentioned earlier, I have removed the seat base to get a better view of the mechanism and how it operates. Am I right in saying the top corner latch when pulled up fully to release the seat back also unlocks the seat base? There just does not seem enough movement of the bottom lever to allow the bottom to move. Anybody recommend someone to remove the seat? I am based in Manchester, but I am in Birmingham also a lot of the time. Thanks for your help so far!

Finally! ? The seat is out!
Got someone to pull on the lever as hard as they could while I sat on the seat back, a couple of tries and suddenly click! Up it came! Straight out the car, never to return. Thanks everyone, my advice for anyone who finds this issue, is get some help! You need the weight at the front of the seat, while someone else pulls it from the back ?
