There are two possible reasons for your problems,
1, if you are talking about the clip/bolt at top of seat (rear outside edge??) when this is out of line it is usually caused by the two 'u' clips on underside of seat base (front edge) are not correctly fitted into the floor base fittings, this is a known common problem! you somtimes have to fiddle with the seat base to get them seated properly, ie; swinging both ways front to back, then put the (upright seat back) down on seatbase place your knee in centre of same then push down really hard!! you should hear the centre bolt in base click into place, now lift seat back up to locking bracket which should now be in line, one other thing, whatever you do do not force into position! as this will make the bolt JAM /which from all accounts is an absolute nightmare to release.
