Rear seat stuck

Help!

The passenger side rear seat wont move when I pull up the handle.
The handle moves up but the pin doesn't move enough to free the seat to push it forward.
I have had the seat forward before but it won't budge now!

Anyone got any idea how to free it?

Also does moving the rear seats forward to the upright position actually give much more useable boot space?

Cheers Andy

1.4 Sport, Open sky, CD autochanger, metallic blue (Don't know which blue it is! best description would be a mid blue - almost RAF colour - any ideas?)

The best way to release the seat is actually to kneel on it when it's folded and pul up the handle at the same time.

Cheers,

Mike

Cheers MIke

But............... I can't get the seat to fold forwards at all as the handle isn't moving the pin up enough!

Hi Andy,

There are 2 handles, which I think is causing confusion.

Do you mean the handle at the bottom of the seat back, or the handle on the top outer edge of the seat back?

John.

Hi Andy
Careful you don't snap the handle as you pull up...
problem is the seat it leaning to one side push the seat towards the door and then pull the handle.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the advice guys, it is the upper handle on the top outer edge, I'll try leaning the seat to one side, I am afraid of snapping the handle though!

If you use 2 thin, pointed blades, it is possible to 'walk' the latch up and so release the seat.

This is fast becoming a common problem and the parts to fix are cheap-ish at £23, but you'll have to either be good at upholstery, or be prepared for a hefty labour bill.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Mike...I'll try that, I have been again attempting to release the backrest, but still no luck. The backseat is a bit loose in it's holder because the black sleeve that covers the metal latch pin doesn't want to drop far enough down.
When I pull the lever up you can hear the latch pin move up, but it's like it's not clearing the hole in the plate secured to the body. I have tried moving the seat to each side as I pull on the handle, but still no joy!

I had this problem today, I have had it a couple of times before but today one of the rear seats would just not play along, I would get in place, clicked down properly and you would not be able to lift the seat back up. Anyway I managed to get the spring above the notches on the metal pin where it would not fit back down on to the car body.

The pliers wouldn't seem to do anything, nor the screwdriver even hammer at one point I had out but lucky I didnt use it.

I managed to sit on top of the seat and move the top lift up latch what you use to lower the seat down and pull the handle up on the bottom of the seat and the latch pin freed itself. So if anyone has the problem try moving both the catch and the handle at the same time.
