Rear view mirror removal issue

In the process of replacing my rear view mirror. The bracket fixed onto the windscreen should come off by rotating it anti-clock wise, correct?
I'm asking as it's just not coming off. I have applied some force but no joy and I'm not happy to apply brute force or a tool.
Any suggestion?
Thanks, Andy

Maybe wd40 can help? It helps for bolts so can help with mirror.

It should easily come off with a 1/4 turn as in the illustration.

Be aware it’s not the mirror you’re trying to turn. The part you should be turning is the bracket which is touching the windscreen.

When I do this I use a spanner but first cover the mirror arm with electrical tape so I don’t mark/damage the plastic.

If yours is tight you may have to use a little more force, the thing to remember is keep the spanner parallel with the windscreen otherwise you risk causing serious damage and will be calling out glass specialist.

I’m happy to show you over FaceTime or WhatsApp how to do safely do it as described.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,
I am aware that is the main bracket that needs turning. I will try again tomorrow with a spanner kept on the same angle of the windscreen and good measure of WD40. Thanks so much for the FaceTime offer, very kind of you ?

Why jobs that should take 12 seconds always end up taking 12 minutes?? ?

WD40 and a careful spanner application worked a treat @2work . Finally managed to install a beige rear view mirror to match my twist interior ☺
