Does anyone have any pictures of the auto dipping mirror, and is it possible to fit one to a car without.

Hi Alan,

It is possible to retrofit one of these auto dip mirrors (I've done it), but the wiring is a bit of a nightmare and you need to be really carefull that you don't crack the screen, as a fair bit of force is needed to remove the old one and install the new one.

The mirror looks like the standard one, but with a little bump at the bottom for the light sensor and no flip dip handle

Re the wiring is it all present or is it a case of splicing into a harness. Also can you remember how much you paid for the unit.

As with all A2 wiring (heated mirrors in the UK excepted), none of it is there. You need to build a loom and splice it into the car.

The mirror itself was about £120

It's a really good option though.

The best thing I can say about it is that I have no idea if it is working. Headlight dazzle has never been an issue though. It just does its job without me ever thinking about it.

During the day, you can notice a very slight purple haze to what you are looking at.

Driving my wifes Renault scenic lately which has this and automatic lights fitted and it is nice to have rather than having to constantly dip the mirror manually

I am thinking of retrofitting one of those automatic mirrors...
Does someone know if other Audi/VW mirror do fit, or do I have to source an A2 mirror only ? What's the part number of this one ? (colour "beige")
I have Open Sky, does this mean I alrerady have all the wiring required ("live" feed) to wire the auto dimming mirror ?
