Rear window heating element?

Hi All, trying to do a search but cannot find specific issue we have.
The rear window heating element only seems to work on the top part (above spolier) but not the lower part.

Are they 2 seperate elements and controlled with2 seperate fuses or something else?

Any advice welcome.
(have not attached a multimeter yet....ive got one but would not know where to stick it

If you can get the trim that surrounds the rear screen off, it'll be obvious where to stick it (the multimeter).
There's info on here, on the trim, thread on removal of the tailgate. Mac.
