Rear Window!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello.

With the recent weather (pissing it down), I have noticed that my rear window doesn't seem to be clearing up to good. I understand that A2s aren't equipped with rear whipers but I would imagine that they have some kind of protectant put on them to somewhat 'waterproof' the windows to clear quickly.

I think this as it seems the part of the window under the spoiler clears up really quickly, whereas above is terrible. Perhaps the constant battering the top gets wears away this protectant?

Anyway my question is: If I am right about the 'water-proof protectant' I mentioned then where can I buy it to put back on the rear window? Guessing it isn't just an Audi thing, perhaps something you can get from a shop.

Cheers,
Dan.

(Sorry I seem to have to write an essay before getting to the point :D)

I think there is something called 'Rain-x' this can be used on both windscreens.

The hydraphobic coating is a service item according to early-ish service books and should be renewed/replaced every two years. Although every Audi dealer I've ever been to has denied all knowledge of this - even though its in the book. One even "lost" my service book to prevent me pointing it out!

I'm over it now.....

If you do a quick search on Umbrello or Ombrello you should find a couple of threads which go into the options in detail.

Cheers

Ombrello is absolutely brilliant stuff but it's a bit of a nightmare to get hold of nowadays.

Rain-X does the same sort of job but only last about 20% of the time of Ombrello and is not as effective at shifting the water when in motion.

I had some stuff called rain wizard came in a pick applicator this stuff was great alot better than rain x but unable to get hold of it now

Cheers Phil

I used to use Rain-x as much to reduce windscreen wiper judder as anything, it always worked well but it does wear off quickly. Have just bought some of that Audi stuff, will give it a go!
