Recommend tool for front wheel bearing ,

The Skf spec uniquely appears to have changed between filming of the two vids above , same part number

Think i will stick with FAG and snap ring going forward

According to attached PDF from SKF (Google translation):
For the spare parts market, SKF has further developed the design so that the SKF version no longer needs a snap ring.
The removal and installation process remains unchanged.

The new version has been extensively tested by SKF and can, without restriction, be used for the specified models.

A 2015 technical bulletin makes no reference to any anti fretting compound?

Mine without the locking ring would not press in fully to the flange in the knuckle had to improvise a shim, not impressed to be honest!

Worked perfect for me, used the dedicated wheel bearing puller.
I used the specific tool but the bearing was around 0.5 mm from the lip in the knuckle. Had to cut and grind down the old lock ring from the old bearing and insert it on the new bearing, then refit the tool and press fully home.

Did your bearing have the lock ring? Did you use anti fret?

Is the anti fretting compound used on the drive shaft splines instead of the Audi method of applying Loctite

Cheers Spike
