Remote key behaviour

Hi all,

I would like to make use of your knowledge of the electronical system. As the topic suggests, my remote- keys stopped working since today.
I have VCDS and the CCCM gave the faultcode 00955 and 00956.
The part number is the AE suffix of the module. Coding is 07802.
I checked the batteries of the remotes, both measured 3-3,2 V. The cars battery is full and relatively new. No issues there.

Group 46 CCCM, MB7, shows both remotes and indicates both remotes when you activate the buttons, they are in key position 1 and 2. Position 3 and 4 are empty. The odd thing is that when you go into adaptions of the CCCM, group 21 and try the synchronisation, it all goes as it should. But once out of the car, no luck! The remotes don't function.

Does anybody have any idea, as to where to look or diagnose? One way is to interchange with a known good CCCM and or keys. Is there another way to outrule the CCCM ?

I look forward to your replies and thank you in advance.

Firstly replace both batteries with FRESH quality ones. It does not take much voltage drop to effect the remotes.

Thank you for the reply. I will go over my steps again and replace the batteries with fresh new ones as a start. Do you have a pointer as to what would be the next logical step?

Hi Duncan,

In my stocks of AE-compatible remote key fobs, I have two that exhibit this precise behaviour. I can code them to the CCCU without issue, but the CCCU then fails to respond to them.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,
Thank you very much for your input. That really helps as a benchmark, that there are more occurrances . Is this in any way related to the AE modules or some of the remote key batches. I might try and code another set .

Kind regards
Duncan

The CCCU works exactly as it should when paired with all other keys.
I think it’s odd that both of your key fobs might have suffered the same failure, but I think it’s the most likely explanation.

Best wishes,

Tom
