Remove Tapatalk support?

Should we remove Tapatalk support on the site?

it's a massive security risk. kill it.
All the passwords for all of the forums have to be stored in plaintext somewhere on a third-party server you've no control over.

TBH unless you use Tapatalk you will not know how much you need it or if there is another app instead. So I think only those members that actually use the app should respond. @Edwrai and @depronman your opinions are needed and very much appreciated.

I think it’s brilliant to be honest, as I’m always logged in and it’s open tap to get it, I also get push notifications of events.

I use it when on my phone, which is the majority of the time.actually! I like the pop up alerts to subscribed threads and keeps(I also get an email). I subscribe to other several other forums via Tapatalk which I find really convenient to be in one place.

Just a thought, what about charging a subscription to the site, so a membership site would that help with costs? Unless the time and cost in doing this are prohibitive a lack of member support could also be a factor I guess?

So yes, I can access via browser but would rather Tapatalk. Anyway I can save myself the 99p subscription to the app and plan some upgrades if it’s removed

Tried it, could not see any great advantage (but I am not accessing via a phone very often) I saw several comments re limitations when using it so did not pursue it’s use. The comment about security would also concern me.
I guess it depends if you access via a phone heavily as to how much value you attribute to it.
Not sure how admin can fairly weight the decision as It would be unfair if all none users voted to remove support when the current users find it valuable!

...I don't care which phone you've got!! ?

Having never used Tapatalk, I have no strong feelings either way, but I do wish Tapatalk wouldn't insert a signature at the foot of every post declaring which device the user has.

Hello, I never use it even when, on other motoring Forums, it is proposed quite aggressively. Happy Easter!

Would that be Windows 95?

Weirdly I was looking to see if I had 3.1 for work groups yesterday to put on a really old pc! But all I could find some old DOS 6.22 floppy’s

Increasingly OT: TCP/IP support, from what I remember - you could have NetBEUI networking in 3.1, but it was broadcast based and not routable. When I started working in IT (nearly 25 years ago now!) we used a Netware add-on to enable IPX/SPX networking in 3.1. How things have changed!!

I have never used it. In the past I have reported that when viewing the forum using either phone or tablet I am offered the choice of browser or tapatalk, and I don't appear to have a way of disabling that, which is annoying :)
