Good evening,

I have a aeralier type 02 smooth service flap, the audi rings and outer rim have been painted black. I prefer chrome on the front.

Has anyone ever removed the paint form these or other trim that can shed some advice on how it can be done if at all? I have a cheap electric heat gun with nozzels but worry about the chrome getting damaged and also the smooth flap surface.

Thanks aas always!

Evening Edd,

I have a spare smooth service flap here with the chrome elements in great condition Sir. As a thank you for allowing me to purchase the brake switch on another thread; it’s yours if you cover the minimal postage. It’ll save messing around and you can keep the painted item as a spare to tinker with. How does that sound.

Kind regards,

Tom

Paint stripper does the trick. Used it on wheel centres to remove laquer from ally and paint from centre plastic.
Best to do a test spot first, to make sure plastic is not affected though. There are so many types of plastic.
