Removing the front seats

After watching the excellent video from Mr.Broons I'm about to have a go at removing the front seats from my 1.6 FSi.
However I'm a wee bit concerned about the seat airbag connector and triggering the airbag.
Assuming the battery has been disconnected first is it OK just to unplug the connector or do I definitely need a bypass tool (VAS 5094)?
I have a OBDeleven pro so I should be able to reset any warning lights.
Any thoughts/advice much appreciated

Thank you Steve. Just needed a bit of reassurance. I looked at online manuals and they all talked about a special tool being needed.

I have never disconnected the battery when removing seats. Just keep the ignition off and the key out.
Just lucky?

Rule of thumb if connecting or disconnection anything that is electrically fired there must be no power available as even the contacts arcing could set off the device. Please ALWAYS disconnect the battery and clear any residual power in the car. Personally I disconnect BOTH battery terminals, then touch the 2 disconnected leads together to dissipate any remaining power, then place some cardboard between the battery terminals and both leads.

All A2 front seats do. So do the S3 seats I've got in one of mine. Sure I've seen airbag connectors in photos of TT seats too, which can also be adapted to fit to the A2.

Yep, I'd never noticed them in my 75 until I looked after I wrote that, the 90 definitely does though.

Believe you are totally safe. There is no true power present in the circuit since Audi must consider cable-ruptures, cable short-circuits etc without airbags going off in peoples face. The only «power» present is for the loop monitoring, ie in case of cable-rupture you will know by having an airbaglight in your dash.
