Removing window and mirror panel from armrest

I need to remove the panel that holds the window and mirror switch from the drivers armrest. Is there a trick to get it out without breaking it?

Remove the 2 brass coloured screws from that area when the doorcard is off. This frees up enough movement to be able to get the switch out from the front.

Second that. I have removed and refitted one with the doorcard still on the car but you have to use a LOT more force than I'd now feel comfortable with (and I broke two of the lugs on the switch panel).

I hope the photos below might help show what you're dealing with. There are a couple of lugs under the back edge of the switch panel, that locate on a ridge below the back edge of the hole in the armrest in which it sits. That edge is underneath an overhang in the profile of the doorcard. On the other side, there are three lugs on (slightly) more flexible stalks, which you can just about reach from behind once the doorcard is off. There are actually three of the brass screws behind the armrest, holding the top of that section into the doorcard. With them removed you can lever the armrest away from the back of the door card far enough to allow the back edge of the switch panel to be helped out of its hole.

This is what it looks like on the back of the door card. You can see the brass screws in the photo. I did this job this week it's OK once the door card is off. Cheers
