Replace Side Light Bulbs.

I am trying to change the side light bulbs, but despite having pulled the "sock" out, (which is in very good condition), I can't pull the tab out.
It looks like the black bulb holder pulls forward, until it is coming against the two "tabs" one each side, and will not pass them,
I've seen posts that say just pull firmly, but that doesn't seem to work, against the tab.
Is it me?

I had this trouble and ended up using pliers on the tab to really pull it. It frightened the life out of me! Nothing was damaged (in my case).

There is no way it's coming past the stops. All I've succeeded in doing is cutting my finger, and breaking the side tab of the bit you pull. I'm not a quitter but ...

This is the tab that is stopping it there's one each side.

Could an incorrect bulb have been fitted in the past and melted the em condom?
I have Led ones in mine no heat at all have heard fitting 5w bulbs apposed to the correct 3w can indeed generate too much heat

I have done it. The pull out part has a wedge shape, that "snaps" in, but doesn't seem to have any lead out. Still you definitely have to use lots of force. I'll leave the other side for tomorrow!

The broken side tab has been super glued before, and now, has been glued again

Don't these rotate around 90 degrees to unlock them? I always give them a twist and they seem to come out like that. I might be mixing these up with something else but there is something in the back of my mind saying there is a rotational movement involved before pulling.

I've done both now, but I'm not convinced that the brutal pull is the way it was designed to be removed, so I think your right, there's a secret we don't know about, a specific orientation. Rotation gets it past the lower tab, (that retains the "sock" in the main housing, but not for the second tab.
