Hi all

So I have replaced my low level oil sensor ( 045907660D ) and I still have the low level yellow warNing on my screen, run a VCDS scan and no faults, has any else had this issue or any idea what I should look at next ?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Other item to check is the microswitch for the service flap. If this is not operating your alarm may either not set or false trigger. Audi also linked the oil low level sensor into that circuit, so opening the flap clears the warning , it will return if the level is low or the sensor / wiring is bad.

Check you have the correct dipstick! @CreweAudi can tell you the correct part number if you give him your reg (or you can look it up on 7Zap) - They are flimsier than some consumable items, but very cheap brand new from him so suggest you order one while you're there as a preventative measure for when (not if) it breaks.

Ooooh, I'm going to check the white one now Graham. I didn't know that.

Believe the theory was low level light comes on so owner opens the service flap to check and top up the oil. This resets the low level indication until it is either again triggered by low oil or the sensor had taken a dump. Although the A2 is very advanced in some ways the DIS and in particular the warning lights could have more than one purpose. Flashing glow plug light being a good example - too easy to make one of the brake symbols flash. There again it does not give the driver a heart attack where a flashing brake indication probably would.

So it seems to be the wiring to the plug , took It off pushed all wires in the plug, refitted and the alarm has gone, took it for a run and all ok, so guessing it’s a broken wire, have ordered a replacement wired plug and will swap it over next week.

Just for ref

1. Dip stick supplied by Crewe some time ago and not broken
2. Oil changed a few thousand miles ago
3. Replacement sensor was is a pattern part from Just German Parts but seems to work ok

Thanks for all your help

Good find, one of my Fsi's doing the same, will replace the plug and hope it cures it.
Cheers for sharing,
