Replacement Dual mass Clutch on a 1.4 TDi on an 2004

I have been quoted £1000 for a replacement dual mass clutch. At a specialist Volkswagen Audi independent garage.

Is this a reasonable quote ?

if not could you recommend a garage for this kind of work?

I was going to say top end of the price range but see you are in London so likely to be about right
Contact Rob at WOM
About a 100 mile trip but may well be worth it

I just had mine changed and the labour charge was £165+VAT. I bought the LUK dmf kit a while back, I think it was £350ish. About £50 on bolts, gearbox oil and replacing the release bearing (that I managed to lose!)

I had mine done at WOM last year during the lull in lockdown.

I'm sure you'll get it done for slightly less than £1k but as mentioned above the kit itself is between 3 and 400 pounds. Note that the kit may not come with a thrust bearing (mine didn't and I was taken by surprise).

Marcus at WOM is very proficient at the work and I think had mine done in around 5 hours, with an interruption when I had to go to TPS for the bearing :D.

The guys at WOM come Highly recommended....and the difference with new DMF was immediate. Massive improvement to refinement.

Wow. A very low labour rate I should think.
