Huge thank you to @simufly for supplying his old gearbox and Rob and Marcus @chumsofmanutd for their amazing work at WOM. A misaligned water catcher in the engine bay destroyed my gearbox . Whilst there I had a new dog-bone mount, cast wishbone and console, and several other jobs completed - even a desperately needed engine bay clean and a washer bottle fix I barely mentioned! I’m only slightly ashamed to admit getting a bit emotional driving away and finally having a working gearbox. I’ve had some scary moments getting by until I could source a replacement car and garage the A2 until repairs could be made. As you can imagine, it feels like a different car and several annoying rattles (a maddening bonnet rattle I didn’t even mention was fixed), squeaks and other assorted noises all seem to have vanished - one very, very happy customer!!
I’ve attached some pictures of the worn parts and a before and after of the engine bay. I know I’ve read about that water catcher and the importance of correct positioning on a thread somewhere - a shame I didn’t check mine properly……
