Replacement windscreens

My A2 has some damage to the windscreen and I have decided to get it changed.
But rather concerned that Autoglass policy is to carry out the work on the drive. Would prefer it to be done in workshop conditions to ensure the adhesive cures.
Last time I had the windscreen changed on my A4 I specifically asked for an OE screen but they sent a Chinese copy which is much thinner.
Have you had any experience with these companies ?

Used Autoglass though my insurance when mine cracked. Yes it's a Chinese copy and they did it on my driveway but it has the sunstrip at the top and the guy knew his way around the drainage for my OSS. Nearly a year on now and no issues.

Mines not Chinese, but it was done on my driveway, and I've had no problems, so I wouldn't worry so much about that. I would worry more about the brand of the glass.

Concerned about the sealant setting this time of the year and also the damp. Autoglass seem to have given up the workshop option. Next best thing is a home garage

FY is Fuyao Group, who are Chinese. They also supplied Audi throughout the life of the A2: https://www.fuyaogroup.com/en/news_578.html

I believe there is an Autoglass Centre in Northampton; a modular unit at the same site as Kwik-Fit. If you call up and specify that you want the work doing there, I'm sure they will be able to accommodate you.

Disclaimer: I work for Autoglass, but any opinions I express here are my own, as an A2 owner!

Once I had mine replaced on my previous A2: roadside fitting was not an issue at all and it survived very well. On the other side I hear you about OE quality concern: I too asked for OE and got a FY. Just terrible: the curvature was off, not enough to distort the vision but the reflections showed a clear defect. Next time I'll be happy to pay extra and get an original Audi.

Modular set up too In BEDFORD at Belron or auto glass hq. Just off the Cardington turn off On the A421

Be interesting to learn if Autoglass fit FY exclusively. Secusiv and Pilkington used to be the suppliers that I remember on European cars .

No because although Fuyao are now the largest manufacturer of oem and aftermarket glass they do not have the capacity to produce every type of glass for all models of car.

I don't think that's their policy as they have workshops all over the country so if you request an appointment at one i'm sure they would have to acommodate you.
