Restoring 'Soft touch' interior parts- any idea's anyone?

I’ll check with @CrewAudi in the first instance, if I can get one then brilliant. As you can tell I’m an OEM purist too unless it adds significantly, @timmus will concur that it took me some time to get my head around Colour DIS but the benefits were huge and it looks OEM.

@Edwrai it’s not that bad that I need to go as far as taking it all off and as mentioned the soft touch is the same colour as the plastic underneath and to 99% of people perfectly fine, it a personal thing for me being in the 1%. If I can get and consider the cost reasonable then I’ll change it otherwise I’ll just leave it alone. I can always take the soft touch off in the future so that option is always there.

Had a read of this and some of it dates back over a long period of time.

I have wear marks in the recesses for your fingers on my drivers side window switch surround, the switches themselves are in good order, it’s just the platinum surround that has some wear. I’m fortunate that the soft touch is the same colour as the plastic underneath so not really visible however it’s noticeable to me and would like to change it.

Is it indeed possible to replace the surround and leave the switches? If I’ve read correctly it seems so and when hunting around on eBay I can only find the switches and not the surround.

Does anyone have a link to where I can buy the surround in soft touch, platinum grey (I only have front electric windows). If there is a part number for it and if no eBay link whether Audi will sell this part without the switches?

thanks.
Check Audi tradition!

I did buy a beige coloured window switch surround not so long back from Crewe Audi. I don't think it was that expensive so worth a check when the parts dept reopens

AT does not stock RHD parts and windows surrounds are not interchangeable.
Hi TYZ 8Z,
I think you may well be wrong .

I was talking to my Painter the other week when the paint sales rep appeared.
He had a great new product that would deal with this exact problem. I will see my painter on Monday to get the details.

Later than planned reply so apologies.

Here are the details re "soft touch" paint.

Lechler is the make

31575 Clear Soft Matt TH is the product.

As it is clear and a "top coat" you can flop it onto any paint colour and it will give you an anti scratch soft touch finish. I am getting a few bits done on other cars then will go ahead with the A2 interior parts

Question
Can any other roundlight switches from any other Audi models be retro fitted into the rectangle shaped A2 housing like this from an A4 ?ebay.co.uk/itm/Headlight-Fog-light-Switch-Control-8E0941531D-Fit-For-Audi-A4-B6-B7-RS4-2002-08/112353918017?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

This is done with the auto headlight mod but there are considerations and cutting involved. Also I don’t know about the connector on this one

What about switches from earlier Audi models before lLED auto light switches came in?

Not sure how it relates to our A2s but Auto Express recommended a company called AutoBella who refurbish trim and switches. This was in response to a reader with a 2010 Jaguar XJ where the finish on the switches had gone 'tacky'
I've looked on their UK web site and it's not obvious what related services they offer

Cheers Spike
