Review of upgraded Discs and Performance Pads

As promised an update on my newly fitted upgraded discs and performance pads

See previous thread http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=5677

Firstly let me start by saying, that there is no technical need to have these fitted as the standard discs and pads are more than capable of doing there job

I fitted these discs because:

  • I wanted something sexy
  • Something with even better stopping power
  • Because I can :D

I have done now about a 1000 miles with the new set-up, so how are these and can I recommend them:

Yes, the more aggressive stopping power is there – but oh so easy to apply – no need for heavy pedal pushing
Yes, it stops better under rainy conditions - and we had a lot of that (les fading)
Yes, they look good on the car
Yes, they are more reliable (had to do an emergency stop and I felt that I was fully in control of the car - the stopping power was very easy to manage)
Yes, I can surely recommend them (I would fit them again if I had to do it all over again
No, I'm not bias to these. I was as much surprised as anybody else as, that a grooved and drilled discs would make that much of a difference

So read into this as much as you want, I am keeping them :p

grooved front disc's

Hi Havank,
Glad you like the grooved disc's, I also purchased a set of same disc's
As spares for the future!, I'd like to know what pads are you using??ie normal/green stuff ,or any other type? would be nice to know for future reference!, Thanks Alan.

I think I set the ball rolling with these particular discs from ebay.

Was in Halfrauds at the weekend(stockport branch) and noticed that they were selling these discs(evo 40's).

They were in the sale, average price around £55,so definetly a bargain from ebay.

I can concur with Havank over the braking Performance.

For reference I'm using them with standard aftermarket pads(febi-Bilstein), as previously said on here the A2 doesn't suffer from weak braking so did not feel any need to upgrade the pads to performance ones as well.

This combo seems to work well for me.

I bought some EBC performance brake pads, but only because they were cheap on ebay - (end of line or something like that)

You did indeed :D :D

Thanks for pointing me to the auction :)

No problem:)

Thats why these forums are so useful.

Now if someone can point me in the right direction of a cheap, leather interior for the A2 ..................

If i have found my replacement interior, my Black leather will come up for sale

Iam still looking for a cloth back seat though (not bench) this will then be upholsterd with leather in the recaro style
